I call them the "force lands". I'll be printing the enemy colors in a different custom set ^u^

Let me know what y'all think!!

Ha, nice. Very high price to pay for mana. Almost too high. A fetch and shock combined is just 3 life. Not an exiled card.

Perhaps discard?

Oooh what about discard a land??

Discarding a land is more balanced. In Modern, many cards want to end up in the yard. This makes it almost too easy. So if it's forced to be a land, it isn't as broken for that format.

I agree exiling card is a lot for modern, but I think these would be great in other formats! Standard wouldn't mind untapped typed duals, especially with Dominaria (and Domain) rotating in

TypicalTimmy I'm curious about your thought process on modern use. If you'd be willing to discard a land to get it untapped, wouldn't you be willing to exile it too? I actually think exiling is more fair as discarding helps a decent number of decks (W&6 piles, Murktide, Hollow One, Jund etc).

I guess my thoughts are, permanently losing a card forever for a land feels like a major loss for it's upside. There is Mox Diamond that asks you to discard a land. And Chrome Mox that exiles nonlands, and non-artifacts. But, the difference is, you get any color of the exiled spell.

With these, if I exile a red card for a Selesnya land, I do not get red mana.

So I feel discard is more balanced. The issue is, there are T1 win decks that want cards in graveyards. If you have a land that let's you discard a Gris or Emrukal that's a very serious amount of power. These would immediately be $50 - $90 dollar lands, depending on the colors.

But discard a land? I feel now you have struck the balance between far too powerful, and far too unbalanced.

I'll grant that they're weaker than the shock lands, but I'm fine with that. They're better than the temples and hunt lands, in my opinion, because of the land typing.

They're about comparable in power to the bicycle lands.
