Deck Type:Accelerationist

In Commander, casual tables especially, board states where folk don't interact with each other can occur. This may lead to long , grindy matches that make everyone miserable. What are the best decks out there built specifically to encourage and even force interaction and speed up the game?

This is one of my favorites that both causes acceleration and is just wild to play: My Karona

Group hug is a friendly way to encourage interaction, with increased resources and options. Goad is a more control-oriented option, forcing attacks between players. These two archetypes have a lot of variations and can show up in different colors with different subthemes.

How many different decks do you see regularly? You might be in a meta heavy in stax, battlecruiser, or other decks that stall or develop slowly. Pure aggro is harder to run in EDH, and casual decks in particular tend to be geared to longer games.

My Torture deck puts the game on a clock, generally. Most of the pieces deal damage when things happen, rather than preventing them from happening (like Isolation Cell, for example). The absence of counter magic is one of the other things that keeps the game moving. Often the main interaction is counters, either the spells or effects like Jin Gitaxis (or however it’s spelled). That’s technically interaction, but sorta boring.

I would argue there is a difference between accelerationist and group hug.

gundrac13 Sure, but the final question was how to encourage interaction and speed up the game, and group hug is good at doing those.

I had not considered that. You raise really good points!

Group hug and things that entince, encourage, or force attacks are all forms of forced interaction.

Made a group hug Kenrith deck that flooded everyone with mana (Mana Flare, Heartbeat of Spring, Shared Discovery) and is packed with auras that buff and goad creatures.

Been one of the most objectively fun decks i’ve built. And it wins too. :)
