The main focus of this deck is draining our opponent’s vitality via lifegain & ping damage. We also focus most of that through ETB & Death triggers due to the duplication of those triggers by Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines & Drivnod, Carnage Dominus.

  • Exquisite Blood turns all our damage output into healing, further increasing our lifegain and even providing an infinite combo with the Marauding Blight-Priest; either gain life or deal damage, setting off an infinite loop, gaining you life and pinging your opponent.

  • Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines is an absolute beast, immediately duplicating all of our ETB effects, while simultaneously canceling all of our opponents’ ETB effects. This combos with all the effects listed in the ETB Triggers section above.

  • Drivnod, Carnage Dominus also duplicates triggers for us, but it effects Death Triggers, not ETB Triggers.
  • The real power play for this deck though, is playing our good friend Ormendahl, Profane Prince  . He may require 5 mana and 5 sacked creatures to get his attention, but he’s totally worth it. He’s a 9/7 Demon with Flying, Lifelink, Indestructible, and Haste. Basically, once you have the mana and creatures available to perform the summoning ritual, slam down the Westvale Abbey   for your land-drop, tap and sack for 5 mana, and bring that bad boy out to play. He is an instant threat that is very difficult to stop once the play is in motion, and he can quickly devastate an opponent with ease.

Updates Add

I’ve added a few new creatures, removed some that weren’t quite working the way I wanted them to, put in some Thoughtseize & Dash Hopes, and in general brought the focus back onto the creatures and synergizing their abilities.

My new goal with this deck is to maximize my usage of the ETB effects and really force my opponent to make more difficult choices between allowing me to have my way or sacrificing their own life points.
