Overview

Goal: This deck is built "as a zombie tribal deck that tries to drain out your opponents."

Strategy: Flood the board with zombies as quickly as possible.

From the video, the purpose of the cards in each of the custom categories is as follows:

• Ramp - Get our mana base online and have the mana to cast our X spells.
• Horde - Get more zombies onto the battlefield. Build up the board.
• Drain - Cards that, in addition to other things, help drain opponents' life.
• Cannibals - Get value from dying zombies.
• Aggro - Attack the opponents.
• Regenerate - Zombies that keep returning themselves or others and annoying opponents. Returned Reveler's purpose is to fill the graveyard for either The Scarab God or Ghoulraiser or Possessed Skaab. Corpse Connoisseur, when combined with The Scarab God or Ghoulraiser or Possessed Skaab, acts as a tutor.
• Recursion - Bring back zombies from the graveyard for value.
• Creeping - Take advantage of The Scarab God's abilities. Primarily, this is Paradox Haze, which will double our scrying and our draining.
• Dig - Get ahead with card advantage. For Monastery Siege, usually choose Khans.
• Disrupt - Disrupt opponents' plans.
• Land - The mana base itself.

Changes that I made

• Took out three Swamp and put in Watery Grave, Drowned Catacomb, Fetid Pools for more color flexibility.
• Took out Terminal Moraine and put in Sol Ring.
• Took out Wayfarer's Bauble and put in Everflowing Chalice. Wayfarer's Bauble might still be an option for this deck as a mana rock.
• Took out Charcoal Diamond and put in Dimir Signet.
• Took out Warped Landscape and put in Unclaimed Territory. Get land faster.
• Took out 3x Island and put in Sunken Hollow, Choked Estuary, and Tainted Isle to give more sources of black mana without losing blue sources. This needs testing.

Potential Upgrades

The Maybeboard is under consideration, and I will categorize those at some point.

• Overseer of the Damned for taking advantage of creatures dying.
• Dread Summons for building our horde of zombies, while milling ourselves for The Scarab God.
• Endless Ranks of the Dead for for repeatedly building our horde of zombies. Plus, this can trigger on our upkeep before The Scarab God's trigger to scry and drain even more.
• Crypbreaker for building the board and card advantage.
• Gravecrawler for sacrifice fodder and recursion.
• Balthor the Defile for bringing back all black zombies.
