My take on Kalamax, the Stormsire. This deck is not intended to be cEDH viable, but should be a somewhat high power casual deck. It seeks to go infinite as fast as possible to pump Kalamax and swing for lethal commander damage, or better yet blow out the table without attacking at all. Chandra's Ignition is the simplest wincon: play it, tap Kalamax and play any fork, then blow out the table. Depending on when you get this combo, you may even have mana up to counter an opponent's counterspell. I've won with the deck on turn 5, and I'm pretty sure a turn 4 win is possible if you get Kalamax out on turn 3. The best part? You can even go infinite off copying your opponent's spells. Then a copied Soul's Fire on your next opponent's turn will kill two opponents at once, or Kessig Wolf Run to give Kalamax trample to take out an opponent...et cetera. The combos are very flexible and interactive.

As this deck is so commander centric, the shell is fairly control-y and defensive. You should seek to play Kalamax as early as possible (ideally turn 3) even if you can't defend him yet in order to get your infinites online as fast as possible. I run very few creatures and treat them more like enchantments than like bodies, or use them as controlled redundancy as alternate wincons if Kalamax keeps getting blown up.

As we're looking for infinites, there's plenty of draw/digging in the deck. Try to use these on opponent turns while Kalamax is tapped for double value. The same advice goes for ramp, although your first couple of turns should be ramping as aggressively as possible in order to have as much mana on the field before Kalamax drops. After Kalamax is on the board, ramp lets us get out bigger spells and more spells on every turn. A doubled ramp spell like Harrow, for example, gets you four basics for the price of one, and puts them on the table untapped. Multiple times I've played Harrow and had it copied by both Kalamax and Veyran, Voice of Duality for 6 untapped basics on the battlefield -- at instant speed. Similarly, Crop Rotation is both a ramp spell and a tutor for Holdout Settlement or Survivors' Encampment, both ways to tap Kalamax at instant speed for upside.

Creative combos are the name of the game here! Drop a comment if there's changes or combos that might go well in here. Go infinite and have fun Kalamaxxing!
