Welcome to my series where I explore a Theme/Gimmick and I create a deck out of it. It doesn't have to be crazy competitive. I'm just looking to have some fun and I hope you do to! Enjoy Chapter 1: Rats!!

If you are from NYC and seen those rats...you know...Anyways, I watched a recent video of a guy roasting MTG commanders and lo and behold Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm was present. I always wanted to toy around with a rat tribal because there are just so many random rat cards like Ogre Slumlord that I came across. So, I did some research, and here we are. My first Rat Tribal.

I noticed that either decks had a crap ton of Relentless Rats or Rat Colony or tried to avoid them at all costs. I have tried to go halfway. I wanted cards like Ogre Slumlord, Karumonix, the Rat King, Marrow-Gnawer, and Metallic Mimic to help bolster all rats. Not just the multiple copies of Relentless or Colony. So, this deck should be a hybrid balance enough that it's not a one-trick-pony of 20 plus Relentless Rats just scrambling all over the battlefield.

Of course, if you get too targeted, Damnation, No Mercy, Grave Pact, and several other removal spells should help balance things back out for you as you recover and flick the middle finger at the exterminators who aren't too fond or friendly with your growing sewer rats.

Overall this deck should be a pretty fun theme deck and I'm excited to give this a try! Let me know what you think!
