Introduction
Hey guys, Cxseals here and today I'll be bringing you a new series on Nic Fit in modern. For those who don't know nic fit is a G/B/x base toolbox control deck that uses removal and ramp to dish out large threats late game. The deck is primarily used in legacy with Green Sun's Zenith, Veteran Explorer , and Pernicious Deed however there are plenty of good substitutes in modern.

Overview

First let me start off by saying this how versatile this archetype is; there are several ways and color variations to build this deck with so far the ones I have tested have been Sultai, Jund, Abzan, a five color bring to light and all of the above tested with traverse the unvenwald, all with varying degrees of success. This page will be used as a primer for the Nic fit archetypes and I will explain various tips and card choices that can be made. A full list of all my builds will be displayed at the bottom for reference.

Nic Fit tech

Nic fit is a G/B removal shell given combined with ramp; the objective of the deck is to last long enough to field significant threats and then close the game out. The deck does well against aggro as it fields good main board removal coupled with life gain and preforms equally well against controls and combo due to its hand disruption package.

When building there are a few basic cards to use; a Hand disruption set consisting of 3-5 cards, threats between 3-10, ramp between 4-12 cards, and the rest being removal and utility cards coupled with between 22-26 lands depending on how you are playing.

There are several ways to play nic fit in addition to the creature tool box objective. The archetype is capable of borrowing from other combo or aggro archtypes such as Scapeshift , Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Restoration Angel combo,Life from the Loam aggro, et. al. The decks versatility means it can pick and choose its composition to fit the meta.

Card Choices

When selecting cards for this deck its important to remember to field a versatile mainboard and a diverse side board, but the deck can be broken down mainly into four parts, discard and removal, threats, ramp, and search.
