lhetrick13 on Need help pls (too many cards)

RedTrashMammal - I am going to echo DreadKhan here and state that unless it is a crucial piece of the deck, avoid high CMC cost like the plague for Modern. You have access to soooo many cards that most decks will just run circles around you by turn 6-7. Most lifegain themed decks revolve around low cost creatures that get pumped when you gain life or have excess life and this should likely be your focus. Creatures like Voice of the Blessed, Righteous Valkyrie, Archangel of Thune, Resplendent Angel, etc are some of the ones that come to mind when I think lifegain.

Just looking at your creatures some seem out of place considering you say this is a lifegain deck. Tine Shrike, Rustwing Falcon, Makindi Patrol, Makindi Aeronaut, Fortified Rampart, Expedition Envoy...none of these creatures have any lifegain synergy and could be ether dropped or replaced. The same is true with many of your instants/sorceries, enchantments. They are not bad cards just not optimized for what you said you are trying to accomplish.

If you do cut down the deck, make sure you cut down your lands as well. You will likely need 21-24 depending on the average CMC of the deck but pulling some of those means less overall cards you need to drop :)

Good luck and happy brewing!

Master_Keeby on Does Breena's ability trigger for …

Let's say I'm playing a multiplayer game of EDH and I have Breena, the Demagogue , Lantern Kami , and Rustwing Falcon on the battlefield under my control. If I attack an opponent who doesn't have the lowest life total among my opponents with all three of my creatures, how many times does Breena's ability trigger? Just once, or for every attacking creature?

So, take into account what kind of deck you want to play. Aggro? Cut the board wipes. Control? Add more removal, take most of your creatures out. I'm going to work ona n aggro gameplan since that looks like whre your deck is leaning towards.

Cut: Tragic Poet

Prowling Felidar

Lagonna-Band Trailblazer

Knight of New Benalia

Dwarven Priest

Archon of Emeria (You are an aggro deck and want to be able to cast more than one creature in the same turn)

Rustwing Falcon

Djeru, With Eyes Open (you run no planeswalkers, also a bad card)

Adamant Will

Aegis of the Heavens

Blessed Light

Divine Verdict

Squire's Devotion

Slash of Talons

Smite the Monstrous All your sorcerys

Lithoform Engine

Hieromancer's Cage

Karma

On Serra's Wings

Novice Knight you run no equipment

4 plains

Now this might seem like a lot, but I will give you some suggestions for cards that will help further your gameplan

Creatures: currently you are running some really good cards as one ofs and bad cards with more copies, such as; Dauntless Bodyguard , Leonin Vanguard , Hunted Witness , Luminarch Aspirant Venerated Loxodon which is a great finisher, and Speaker of the Heavens .

You could run 1 more Ajani's Pridemate and 4x Soul Warden

Legion's Landing  Flip is a very good card, so I would keep it.

Removal: If you want to go with some of the best white removal ever printed that is modern legal, but a little expensive, go with Path to Exile . If not Path to Exile would be much better than Hieromancer's Cage , Conclave Tribunal is pretty good, but I wouldn't run more than 5 removal spells since you want to be going wide with your creatures and a hand ful of removal will just stall the game and you will lose in the end. You want to end the game fast while maintaining a high life score.

LordBlackblade on Which is better?

Helica Glider is more versatile, but more expensive. Snickering Squirrel is arguably better in a deck that relies heavily on dice rolls.

Rustwing Falcon is strictly better than Storm Crow if you are running white.

Context is very important, and very few cards can be effectively evaluated in a vacuum. If you want effective assistance with this, you need to provide that context.

Winged Words seems great for this deck. I like Faerie Seer or Spectral Sailor much better than Rustwing Falcon but I'm guessing it's kind of hard for this deck to have a turn one blue mana ready, but I personally would try to make it work. Love the deck +1 from me!

Have you found Hero of Precinct One to be paying off? imo, the deck would work better w/ 4x History of Benalia and leaning more into plains in the manabase. I also played around with a lot of Healer's Hawk and the lifelink always felt great if I could successfully mentor it. That said, Rustwing Falcon ended up being my card of choice in this style deck because it doesn't die to Goblin Chainwhirler or Fanatical Firebrand + after being mentored it can attack into or block a Thief of Sanity or an early Hydroid Krasis without dying.

Sneaking Pleisiosaur

Creature - Dinosaur

Skulk

Whenever Sneaking Pleisiosaur attacks and isn't blocked, the player it is attacking, or controller of the planeswalker it is attacking may discard a card. If they do, draw a card.

Enrage - Whenever Sneaking Pleisiosaur is dealt damage, each opponent discards a card. You draw cards equal to the number discarded that way.

2/6

I'd like to see a pushed common, like Rustwing Falcon , Healer's Hawk , War Falcon or Hunted Witness .

These seem weird to be common, but not broken as 1-drops.

Hey man! Nice idea. A suggestion for you and some cards to consider.

  • I would try and make this more focused and have more 3 and 4 copies of cards, and less 1 and 2 copies. What is your main goal? How does your deck win? Right now, it's a bit all over the place. If you want to, I could remake this deck into a deck that can stand its own at FNM, taking into account things such as sideboard and budget restrictions. If you don't want me to do that, I completely understand. Having someone else make a deck for you is kind of boring, and takes the fun out of deckbuilding.

Cards you might want to consider:
