This Deck Stink!

The best part of building a deck of bugs is, you won't have to smell it. But I'm not sure your opponents were spared that part after we take them hostage and tortured them with our Zask. After all, land destruction is as stinky as a road-killed skunk.

Let's break down Zask's abilities first.

The 1st paragraph makes Zask a Crucible of Worlds for both land and Insect spells. Fetch lands, discard, mill, sacrifice, and entomb effects should synergy with it well.

"Playing lands" also means you have to build extra land privilege to abuse that ability. Azusa, Lost but Seeking + Strip Mine will easily cancel out all your opponents' land drops, and troll them by messing around their mana curve. A wise man once said, unless you make your opponent suffer, you're not playing Magic the Suffering™ correctly.

Even if we're allowed to casting insect creatures from our graveyard, the 2nd paragraph will be stopping us squeeze more juice from the card, by tucking that card into the library bottom, then milling 2 cards, which is mediocre.

But Nameless Inversion is an instant, and technically an instant can't die. It gets resolved and put into our graveyard from the stack. So we could +3/-3 check as many times as we want. Same as Grist, the Hunger Tide, it is either a planeswalker on the board or an insect creature when it isn't. The rule is on our side, pal.

The last paragraph could give Zask more chance to stomp through, or buff the blocker and make attackers take the bite. Opponents fear us even if we are lands flooded and have nothing to cast.

I add The Gitrog Monster combo just in case someone makes me put a "Real Wincon" in this deck. But we all knew our goal is to make opponents' lands disappear. wink wink

Mama Marit Lage Show

"The hunger tide sweeps across the land, calling us forth from slumber. A great noise shall rise from the earth as many mouths cry out for sustenance. Countless wings will darken the skies and famine's teeth shall strip the flesh from the bones of the world. Let all this and more come to pass, that our children may partake of the endless feast."—The Song of Grist
