would this end in a draw?

so i have a 36/36 Primordial Hydra . i attack and he blocks with a Boros Reckoner . would the match end in a draw or will i win bc the moment his life total hits zero the game ends not allowing Boros Reckoner 's ability to resolve

No, the game would not end in a draw. State-based actions (the mechanism that generally causes players to lose the game and creatures to die, among other things) check before the resolution of Boros Reckoner s ability. If they find that your opponent's life total is less than zero, they immediately lose the game, even though there is a trigger on the stack.

Think of a scenario where you cast a spell, and your opponent responds with Lightning Bolt with you at 3 life. You go to 0 life, and lose the game even though there is still something on the stack.

What you thought was correct. When combat damage is dealt Boros Reckoner would trigger. When state-based actions check, before the ability would go on the stack, your opponent would lose the game.

Why is this getting complicated? After +10/+10 counters are on Primordial Hydra he gains Trample. Boros Reckoner is a fantastic card, but a fantastic card that can only stop 3 of your Hydra's 36 incomming damage. Netting a whopping 33 damage getting through Reckoner...
