Would I have to play the strive cost with radiate?

Asked by Nagaram 9 years ago

So if my opponent plays Silence the Believers and I play Radiate would it exile all creatures since it says to make a copy for each target that it Could target or do I still have to play the strive coat for each other or does it just not work?

You don't have to pay any Strive costs, for 2 reasons:

  • When a copy of a spell is created without going through the casting process (Radiate doesn't say to make a copy of a spell card and "cast" the copies, so it just creates them directly on the stack), then no costs have to be paid for the copy.
  • A copy of something is a distinct and different object from the original. You didn't suddenly create a spell targeting N things, you created N spells targeting one thing each.

First off, you can only target Silence the Believers if it's only targeting one creature in the first place(no strive cost)

but given that, It would exile all creatures, and you don't have to pay the strive cost.

Each copy of the spell is still targeting just 1 creature, and you don't have to pay any extra.
