Will Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar always keep all of its +1/+1 counter?

Asked by Seiva 2 years ago

If I use Bioshift to move counters from Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar will Multani stay with the same amount of counters due to his power being tied to the number of lands on the field and in the graveyard or would it need to re-enter the battlefield to regain its power?

Unfortunately, Multani doesn't use counters at all. There are two kinds of "+1/+1"s in Magic: counters and static modifiers. Whenever a card uses counters, it will use the word "counter" in its text (like Snakeskin Veil). But if a card just gives the power/toughness boost until end of turn, or it changes along with another value--like Multani's boost, which changes depending on how many lands you have--then it will not use counters (such as Giant Growth).

Omniscience_is_life I guess I got too excited thinking I had access to unlimited counters I didn't see Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar description doesn't say +1/+1 counters.

Thank you for the answer.
