When Can I use Tetzimoc's Ability?

Asked by CaptainLB 4 years ago

I'm wondering if you could use the ability on Tetzimoc, Primal Death to put prey counters on you opponents creatures before you untap? Is there a period of time you could apply counters before you untap, or does it instantly move to your untap step after your opponent passes turn?

In summary, is there a period of time after your turn starts, but before your untap, that you could use abilities at instant speed?

You can't do anything on your turn before you untap, nope. Before you untap at the beginning of your turn, your last chance to put prey counters on things is at the end of your previous turn.

(Unless you use Chronobot or Clocknapper, which are illegal in everything, and I'm only mentioning because I'm on a silver-bordered kick ATM.)

Just to add the supporting rule to Yesterday's answer.

502.3. No player receives priority during the untap step, so no spells can be cast or resolve and no abilities can be activated or resolve. Any ability that triggers during this step will be held until the next time a player would receive priority, which is usually during the upkeep step.
