Viashino Heretic ability interaction with indestructible

My question is will the artifact's controller take damage even if the artifact isn't destroyed? Specifically if I target a Blightsteel Colossus, will the controller take 12 damage even though the artifact wasn't destroyed. For reference, Viashino Heretic.
It is the same as Artifact Mutation on artifact creatures/artifacts with "Indestructible, because of Blightsteel Colossus's "Indestructibility" via "Indestructible", it won't die but the second effects will activate. Unless Viashino Heretic's ability says "Destroy target artifact. IF target is destroyed, Viashino Heretic deals to that artifact's controller damage equal to the artifact's total casting cost". It does not require the artifact to be destroyed for the remaining abilities to work, unless specified, in short.

The controller will still take damage. The part of the ability that deals the damage does not require the artifact to be destroyed.
