Tree of Perdition and the stack

Asked by hiddengibbons 1 year ago

So I read about a combo that uses Tree of Perdition and Turn to Frog that works despite the “loses all abilities” clause if the ability and spell go on the stack in the right order. Could the same be said if say, I put the tree’s ability on the stack and use a morbid Tragic Slip in the right order?

The Tree won't swap if it's not on the battlefield.

One of its rulings: "If Tree of Perdition isn’t on the battlefield when the ability resolves, the exchange can’t happen and the ability will have no effect. Notably, activating the ability and giving Tree of Perdition -13/-13 in response won’t cause your opponent to lose the game. (2016-07-13)

With Turn To Frog, the Tree is still on the battlefield, and the ability is still on the stack, the Tree is just a 1/1 now. So the ability will swap using the 1.
