Soulfire Grand Master, how you work?

If I have Soulfire Grand Master on the battlefield, and I cast Read the Bones or Painful Truths will the lifelink work with those spells? So in the end will I not lose life since the life gain will counter act the health cost?

702.15b:
Damage dealt by a source with lifelink causes that sources controller, or its owner if it has no controller, to gain that much life.
Since their is no damage dealt with cards like Read the Bones and Painful Truths the lifelink does not apply and will not negate the life loss.

Lifelink only works with damage. Neither Read the Bones nor Painful Truths deal damage. Older example: Ashes to Ashes deals damage to its caster as its downside. Soulfire Grand Master would give it lifelink, so you'd have a net life change of zero.
Damage causes life loss, but not all life loss is damage.
