Solidarity of Heroes and Heroic

Asked by Quadsimotto 9 years ago

I have a couple of questions for today. First. As long as I target a creature with heroic with a spell (whether it is countered or not) it gets the 1/1 counter correct? When does this happen? For example. I cast Solidarity of Heroes for strive on two creatures with heroic. One of them is a Phalanx Leader one is a Favored Hoplite I want to know if this is playing it right. So the phalanx leader drops a token on each creature the hoplite gets his counter. But when does this happen? Does the solidarity see there are no tokens at the time of casting and double nothing or does it double the tokens that where just placed? Shit even after having read my question i am confused.

Never mind. I just noticed the reference to other similar questions and found an answer. Is that a new feature? If so thanks to whoever got that up and going.

For those looking for the answers:

You're confusing tokens and counters. A token is a non-card object used to represent a permanent. A counter is a non-card object used to represent a specific change in value on a permanent.

Phalanx Leader 's triggered ability puts a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control. It does not create tokens.

When you cast Solidarity of Heroes targeting Phalanx Leader and Favored Hoplite , Phalanx Leader and Favored Hoplite 's heroic abilities trigger. In this case, the order in which you put them onto the stack is irrelevant.

After both abilities resolve, Phalanx Leader will have one +1/+1 counter on it and Favored Hoplite will have two +1/+1 counters on it.

Then, Solidarity of Heroes will resolve. Whenever a spell or ability requires information about the game state, that information is determined when the spell or ability resolves. Solidarity of Heroes counts the number of +1/+1 counters on each target creature as the spell resolves, then doubles those numbers. Phalanx Leader will get one +1/+1 counter for a total of two +1/+1 counters, and Favored Hoplite will get two +1/+1 counters for a total of four +1/+1 counters.
