Slimefoot, the Stowaway interaction with Sanguine Bond

Asked by Danno1011 5 years ago

My friends and I recently determined that if a saproling died while Slimefoot, the Stowaway and Sanguine Bond were out that it would create an infinite life drain/gain effect like Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood. After thinking about it I don't think this is true. A saproling died so each player loses a life, controller gains one and because of sanguine one opponent would lose another life but no more because another saproling would need to die to start the chain over. Am I correct?

Yes, your assumption is correct. Sanguine Bond will trigger exactly once (per saproling that died) from Slimefoot, so essentially this will double the lifeloss of a single opponent. But it is not infinite.

You're correct. Slimefoot, the Stowaway's ability only triggers when a Saproling you control dies. Sanguine Bond's ability doesn't result in anything dying (except, occasionally, your opponents).

To create a loop, you need an ability that causes life loss whenever you gain life.
