Sidisi vs. Devouring Light

Asked by FancyFish 9 years ago

If I use Devouring Light on Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, would he still be able to spawn zombies?

It depends on when you cast Devouring Light.

If you cast Devouring Light in response to the attack trigger, then Sidisi, Brood Tyrant will be exiled before the first ability resolves. The second ability can never trigger because Sidisi, Brood Tyrant won't be on the battlefield when the first ability resolves.

If you allow Sidisi, Brood Tyrant's first ability to resolve before you cast Devouring Light, then Sidisi, Brood Tyrant's second ability will trigger as many times as are appropriate. If you cast Devouring Light in response to these instances of Sidisi, Brood Tyrant's second ability, the abilities will still resolve because they exist independently of their source.

What the hell?

When you Exile Sidisi as she had been declared as attacker (otherwise, you can't cast Dev Light) The mill ability will trigger. She will be exiled, then you'll mill 3 cards from top, but 'cause she's exiled, there will be no tokens - no matter if you milled a creature or not.

Try watching Tournaments when things like that happened.

Not exactly mate.Let me quote you:"If you cast Devouring Light in response to the attack trigger, then Sidisi, Brood Tyrant will be exiled before the first ability resolves. The second ability can never trigger because Sidisi, Brood Tyrant won't be on the battlefield when the first ability resolves."

So, what you meant - is exiling without getting milled. But, as I said - Sidisi must be attacking so Light can be casted on her, thus - She WILL mill 3 cards. No matter at what point You'll cast Devouring Light mill will be done. The second part is as you stated.

We cool?

I never said the first ability wouldn't resolve. What I'm explaining is that the second ability may or may not trigger, depending on your choices.
