Sacrifice outlets and Crystal Shard

Asked by Swebb87 2 years ago

Evening, if I Sacrifice a creature to Trading Post 3rd ability to return an artifact to my hand, but bounce the sacrificed creature back to my hand using Crystal Shard before it hits the graveyard, do I get the artifact from my graveyard to my hand from the Trading Post ability, or does it no longer see the creature to sacrifice and pay the cost?

When you sacrifice something, it goes to the graveyard without a chance for response. This means that you can't bounce something that's being sacrificed, nor can you sacrifice it to another effect, such as if you had a second Trading Post in play.

Can I ask why you can play Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath and get the card draw and life gain, then bounce back to your hand using Crystal Shard before it sacrifices? Is it because they are ETB triggers and you can respond before the sacrifice triggers?

If you're sacrificing as a result of a spell or ability, as opposed to paying the cost for one like with Trading Post , you can respond to the spell or ability while it's on the stack, but once it resolves you have to sacrifice the permanent. For instance, if you opponent casts Soul Shatter to make you sacrifice your most expensive creature or planeswalker, you can use Crystal Shard to bounce the most expensive creature before the soul shatter resolves. However, once the soul shatter resolves, your most expensive creature or planeswalker left on the battlefield is going in the graveyard, no ifs ands or buts.

Sorry but reading a bunch of bullshit.

When uro comes into play it triggers twice. First its sacrifice, then draw gan life and play land. Since the first trigger is on the bottom of the stack you get to draw etc. once that is resolved you can put the bounce effect on the stack, and resolve it, bouncing uro to hand. Then you let the sacrifice resolve but sine uro is no longer in play it fizzles out.
