Reduced cost with one drops

If I were to have an Emerald Medallion on the field and cast an Elvish Mystic, would I get one colorless in my mana pool?

Spells only do exactly what they say they do. Emerald Medallion doesn't give you mana, it only reduces the costs you need to pay.
Think of it like a store. The sign says "$25 off anything in the store!". If you go to buy a lamp for $10, the storekeeper may give you that lamp for free, but he's not going to give you $15 change.

No; Emerald Medallion can't reduce the colored mana cost of Elvish Mystic. It likewise doesn't affect the casting cost of a spell that requires more than 1 mana but none of which is generic mana, like Hull Breach.

10/4/2004 Can never affect the colored part of the cost.
