Question About: "Reflecting Pool" Interactions

Asked by Upyron 5 years ago

hi there, some nice exemple:

1) does Reflecting Pool reproduce mana, from a Tapped Sulfur Falls ?

2) does Reflecting Pool reproduce a color mana from Sunken Ruins when no exist another land ?

3) does Reflecting Pool reproduce a color mana from Shadowblood Ridge ?

4) if any basic/not basic land could reproduce a color mana/or colorless is Tapped, Reflecting Pool can reproduce as well ignoring taping land ?

Thanks

Please link all cards in your question using double square brackets.

Reflecting Pool

Sulfur Falls

Sunken Ruins

Shadowblood Ridge

The second card ruling on Reflecting Pool actually says exactly what I was going to say, so I will just use WotC's words instead of my own. (though I was going to use Vivid Grove as my example)

Reflecting Pool checks the effects of all mana-producing abilities of lands you control, but it doesn’t check their costs. For example, Vivid Crag says “, Remove a charge counter from Vivid Crag : Add one mana of any color.” If you control Vivid Crag and Reflecting Pool , you can tap Reflecting Pool for any color of mana. It doesn’t matter whether Vivid Crag has a charge counter on it, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s untapped.

I think this answers most of your questions since the other lands being tapped doesn't matter to what mana Reflecting Pool could make, and being able to pay other costs (such as on Sunken Ruins or on Shadowblood Ridge ) also doesn't matter.

If you need any further clarification, feel free to ask. I answered what I thought you were asking, but it seems like you may not be a native English speaker because of some odd wordings. As a result I may not have completely understood you, and apologize if I missed something you were asking.

Please use double square brackets to link cards so it's easier to answer the question.

Reflecting Pool , Sulfur Falls , Sunken Ruins , Shadowblood Ridge

  1. It doesn't matter if Sulfur Falls is tapped or not. As long as it's a land you control, Reflecting Pool will be able to tap for or because those are two types Sulfur Falls could produce.

  2. Reflecting Pool checks whether a land could produce a type of mana, but it doesn't check the cost to do so. So if Sunken Ruins is your only other land, Reflecting Pool can still tap for , , or because those are the types Sunken Ruins could produce.

  3. Again, because Shadowblood Ridge is capable of producing and , Reflecting Pool is also capable of doing so.

  4. Again, Reflecting Pool doesn't care if the land in question is tapped. It only cares what types of mana it could produce. So if you have a basic Plains and Reflecting Pool , but your Plains is tapped, Reflecting Pool can still produce .

From the Gatherer rulings for Reflecting Pool :

Reflecting Pool checks the effects of all mana-producing abilities of lands you control, but it doesn’t check their costs. For example, Vivid Crag says “, Remove a charge counter from Vivid Crag: Add one mana of any color.” If you control Vivid Crag and Reflecting Pool, you can tap Reflecting Pool for any color of mana. It doesn’t matter whether Vivid Crag has a charge counter on it, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s untapped. (2008-05-01)

Reflecting Pool doesn’t care about any restrictions or riders your lands put on the mana they produce, such as Pillar of the Paruns and Hall of the Bandit Lord do. It just cares about types of mana. (2008-05-01)
