Question about Redirection spells

Asked by hsvstar2003 8 years ago

My question concerns the cards Willbender, Travel Preparations and Redirect.

Let's say my opponent has only one creature and casts Travel Preparations selecting his creature as a target. Now that Travel Preparations only has one target, can I flip over my Willbender and select a new legal target since Travel Preparations technically only has one target?

What if instead of using my Willbender I cast Redirect. How many targets can I choose? Only the one because my opponent only selected one for the spell?

When you cast a spell the number of objects that it is targeting is locked in. So with Travel Preparations you can only change its single target to another single target; you cannot make it target two creatures.

Alright, so by that logic I can use my Willbender as long as only one target was chosen for the spell?

You are correct. It only matters how many things are being targeted not the maximum possible number that could be targeted.
