Question about augment

Asked by andypants040 6 years ago

I have a question about how Sigil of the New Dawn would interact with an augmented creature from unstable.

As far as I understand it, an augmented creature is treated as one creature and not two separate cards. Would a trigger from the sigil bring both cards back to my hand? Or would sigil trigger twice, once for each card?

My thoughts is one trigger bringing both back. As the release notes states what happens to one half happens to the other. So the trigger would see both cards as one creature dying. Trigger once, and bring both to your hand.

From the unstable release notes :

Let's say I have a combined creature and I have to sacrifice a creature. Can I sacrifice just the augment card?

Rip the Ninja Kitten in half? Are you mad?! No. Once a creature is combined, both cards form a single creature. What happens to the creature happens to both cards. (If it's put into a specific part of your library, you choose the relative order of the two cards.)

Yeah, one trigger would affect both cards. From the Meld rules, which are the only black-border method of having a single creature represented by 2 cards: "If an effect moves a melded permanent to a new zone and then affects "that card," it affects both cards."
