Phyrexian infiltrator+ Deadeye Navigator interaction

Asked by crash328 5 years ago

Hi, So if I soulbond Deadeye Navigator to a Phyrexian Infiltrator, activate the Navigators effect to flicker the infiltrator, then while that effect is on the stack, activate the infiltrators ability to exchange control of the infiltrator for an opponent's creature, the exchange happens first then the flicker, but who's side of the battlefield does the infiltrator come back on, Mine as it was activated while it was under my control, or the opponents?

Your control. You still control the activated ability, so it's talking to you when it says "return it to the battlefield under your control".

You control the flicker ability, so it exiles the Phyrexian Infiltrator and then brings it back under your control.

An interesting thing about the Infiltrator is that he can pull some tricky maneuvers even on his own. The classic example is using his ability targeting your own worst creature, then in response, using his ability again to swap him with an opponent's creature. When the stack runs through, he trades places with the opponent's creature, then trades places again with your other creature - net result is you traded some creature you didn't want instead of the Infiltrator. Sure, it costs and you still lost a creature, but it can really surprise someone not expecting it.
