Pharika, God of Affliction, vs Necrogenesis token ownership.

Asked by Eboksba 9 years ago

Quick question,

Pharika, God of Affliction gives the owner of the removed card a token because of the card explicitly says so.

My question is, does the explicit wording in Necrogenesis does? There are numerous other cards that do so, and some of them are more intuitive, like Summoner's Bane . But does Night Soil do so? To whom does that particular wording of that card give token to/.

For Necrogenesis , Summoner's Bane , and Night Soil , it is you who gets the token, not your opponent. They do not say "under its owners control", so the opponent gets nothing except a smaller graveyard (or larger in the case of Summoner's Bane due to it being a counterspell).

Unless specified otherwise (like in Pharika, God of Affliction 's ability) any token made by a spell or ability puts the token into play under the spell or ability's controller's control.

Usually the person who cast a spell or activated an ability is the controller of the spell or ability but in certain corner cases it is possible to take control of it so the wording on that had to be weird. If you need further clarification let me know.
