Pariah functions

Sorry I know its a really old card, but my friend got a whole bunch of old cards recently, and this was one of them. I was wondering how some things work Pariah Multiple Pariahs or other damage redirecting cards, what happens? The creature with Pariah on it gets killed by a creature with trample, what happens?

Multiple Pariahs

Every creature with Pariah on it would take that much damage.

Damage redirecting cards

Can you give a more specific example or question? That's super vague since it matter where and how the damage is being redirected.

The creature with Pariah on it gets killed by a creature with trample, what happens?

Remember that all damage is dealt simultaneously and Pariah is a replacement effect, and creatures only die after damage has been dealt. So presumably you're asking about what happens when a creature with Pariah blocks a creature with trample? Even through the greater than lethal damage gets assigned to the player, the Pariah forces that damage back on the creature - essentially negating trample. Then the Pariahed creature would die if it had lethal damage marked on it.

Sorry, my mistake on -

Multiple Pariah

It's a replacement effect. So whoever the controller of the Pariahs is chooses which one they want to replace the event with.

Right, We have a replacement effect, characterized by it's hallmark "instead". So the affected player (the guy who would have been dealt damage, in this case) Decides on an order to apply them. He (or she) chooses the order Pariah1 then Pariah2.

They don't all apply at once. We apply the first one then re-evaluate the event to see if and how we apply the next. So After Pariah1 is applied to the not-yet-happened damage event, we find that Pariah2 has no applicable event left to apply to, as Pariah1 has already altered the event such that no damage is any longer directed at the player.

Bottom line is that the extra Pariah is superfluous; it won't get the chance to apply. One Pariah is as good as 2.
