New choices for copying spells

Asked by Mibz117 3 years ago

I understand that if you copy a spell that has multiple choices, you have to choose the same choice. Eg i cast a return to nature and choose to destroy and artifact. I manage to copy it with Kalamax, i can choose new target for the copy but it also has to destroy an artifact as it is a copy.

But what if i were to cast gleeful sabotage for example. Would the copy also have to be the same choice?

Use double square brackets around a card's name to create a reference link. It's the best way to make sure everyone understands what's going on in your question. Return to Nature, Gleeful Sabotage, Kalamax, the Stormsire

You can choose either an artifact or an enchantment as the target for the copy of Gleeful Sabotage.

The reason the answers are different for Return to Nature vs. Gleeful Sabotage is because of how they're written. Return to Nature is a modal spell (that's what the "choose one" and the list of items means), so any copies of it will be locked into the same mode that you chose for the original. Gleeful Sabotage isn't modal, so you don't have to worry about that.
