Narset, Enlightened Master + Recastable Cards

Asked by SteelNinja 9 years ago

Say I swing with Narset, Enlightened Master and flip the following:

-Waves of Aggression
-Haze of Rage
-Memory Crystal
-Mycosynth Wellspring

I cast Mycosynth Wellspring, grabbing a Plains. Then I cast Waves of Aggression. May I now cast Waves of Aggression from my graveyard just by discarding the Plains in my hand?

Afterwards, I cast Memory Crystal and then Haze of Rage. Does this give me the potential of casting Haze of Rage 21,525,688,942,785,846,485,183 times to kill my opponent running Celestial Mantle and Beacon of Immortality?

No. Once you cast a card exiled by Narset, Enlightened Master's ability, it changes zones (by going to the stack) and becomes a new object. It's no longer connected to Narset, Enlightened Master's ability. You can't continually cast those cards for free.

You can play Waves of Aggression again by paying it's mana cost and discarding a land, but you can't play it for free anymore because it's no longer a part of Narset's ability. Buyback says it returns to your hand, so you cannot freely cast it over and over again for free, since it's in your hand and not exiled via Narset anymore.
