Blasting Station + Myr Incubator = working?

Asked by Babbacchio 1 year ago

Is it possible to have a "combo" effect combining Blasting Station + Myr Incubator ? I mean: activating the Myr Incubator ability, then causing 1 damage for each creature entered, and untapping the Blasting Station with each new entered token ( to restart the cycle again )? Thanks for the answers

Yes, this will work - the creatures all enter the battlefield at the same time and each creates a separate untap trigger. You then activate the activated ability to ping between each trigger’s resolution. Here is how the stack looks (using 2 artifacts as an example to keep it simple).

  1. Myr Incubator enters the battlefield and triggers, the Myr trigger goes on the stack. It resolves and you create two creatures.
  2. Those creatures ETB simultaneously, triggering Blasting Station twice. The stack now looks like (1) Blasting Station Untap Trigger, (2) Blasting Station Untap trigger.
  3. You tap your Blasting Station to pay the cost. The stack now looks like (1) Blasting Station Untap Trigger, (2) Blasting Station Untap trigger, (3) Blasting Station damage ability. Your Blasting Station is tapped.
  4. Last item on the stack is first to resolve. Last item in was Blasting Station damage ability. You deal one damage to any target as part of resolution. The stack now looks like (1) Blasting Station Untap Trigger, (2) Blasting Station Untap trigger. Your Blasting Station is tapped.
  5. Trigger number 2 resolves. Your Blasting Station is untapped on resolution. The stack now looks like (1) Blasting Station Untap Trigger. Your Blasting Station is untapped.
  6. You activate Blasting Station. The stack now looks like (1) Blasting Station Untap Trigger, (2) Blasting Station damage ability. Your Blasting Station is tapped.
  7. You repeat steps 4 (let Blasting Station Resolce) and 5 (let untap ability resolve). You now have an empty stack and an untapped blasting station. You can fire off your blasting station again.

This holds true for if you have more Myr tokens created - you just have to repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 for each untapped ability.

Though not my general preference, I marked my own answer as it was the only one available.
