Multiple Wild Beastmaster interactions

Asked by fadelightningmm 8 years ago

So for Wild Beastmaster does the ability check precombat as in if I have 2 in play all my other creatures will get +2/+2. Or will they check each other allowing the p/t of my creatures to grow exponentially (as in beastmaster a pluses b to 2 which pluses a to 3 which make b 5, etc.)?

Each Beastmaster will trigger separately and resolve one at a time before moving to the assign blocker step. Which is to say, if their powers are each only one, they will each buff your creature for 1. Resulting in a grand total of +2/+2

Nothing about this ability is precombat. It's all on-attack.

The ability determines Wild Beastmaster's power when the ability resolves. Always check the Gatherer rulings before posting a question.

10/1/2012: The value of X is determined when the triggered ability resolves. If Wild Beastmaster is no longer on the battlefield at that time, use its last known power to determine the value of X. This could be bad for you if Wild Beastmaster's power was negative. For example, if Wild Beastmaster's power is -4, each other creature you control will get -4/-4 until end of turn.

Given that the ability checks power on resolution, it will account for buffs and other changes. This includes buffs from other Wild Beastmasters' abilities.

For example, say you have Wild Beastmaster A, B, and C. Their abilities are on the stack with A at the top and C at the bottom. A will buff B and C to 2/2. B will then buff C to 4/4 and A to 3/3. C will then buff A to 7/7 and B to 6/6.

Each of your other creatures will get +1/+1, +2/+2, and +4/+4.

Edit, the second resolution would result in a +2/+2, due to the first trigger resolving. So two would end with a net of +3/+3

Two Wild Beastmasters can boost each other, but the bonuses don't go jumping back and forth forever.

Wild Beastmaster has a triggered ability (an ability that starts with "when", "whenever", or "at"), and a triggered ability triggers whenever the specified event happens. In the Beastmaster's case it triggers when she attacks. In your example both Beastmasters trigger at the same time when they attack together, so you choose what order to stack the triggers.

After one Beastmaster's trigger resolves, other creatures (including the other Beastmaster) get +1/+1. After the second Beastmaster's trigger resolves, other creatures get +2/+2. You don't back up and re-resolve the first Beastmaster's trigger. In the end your other creatures get a total of +3/+3.
