Multi colour creatures in EDH
Asked by nibsey 7 years ago
Could i play Murderous Redcap in an EDH deck with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed as Commander? As I could play it with only Black mana...
Thanks, Nibsey.
No, because Redcap is both and . The card's general characteristics/flavour are a hybrid of the colors as well, so it would not be fair to say it could go in a mono-B EDH deck.

Of course local/house rules always trump official rules, so it might behoove you to inquire with whoever runs your EDH events.

No.
When determining which cards you can include in a Commander deck, you consider color identity, which is the complete list of colors represented in mana symbols in a card's mana cost or text box (excluding reminder text) as well as any color indicators in that card's type line.
Each card in your deck must have a color identity that fits entirely within your commander's color identity.
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed's color identity is black. Murderous Redcap's color identity is red and black. Red is not part of your general's color identity, so you can't include in your deck any cards with red in their color identities.
Of course, Commander is a social format, so you're free to create house rules with your playgroup that allow you to include the card anyway.
