Morph/Manifest ETB Flip

Would a face-down creature's ETB ability trigger when it gets flipped face-up? I'm assuming (and hoping) no, as I'm staring down a Gray Merchant of Asphodel with only 5 life.

No.

The manifested creature is simply being turned face up, it is not entering the battlefield. The same occurs for morph- Ponyback Brigade will only trigger once when turned face up, as it was turned face up and did not enter the battlefield.

The creature did enter the battlefield when it was manifested/cast for its morph cost, but it did no have the ETB ability to trigger.

It would not trigger. This is why you can do shenanigans with Phyrexian Dreadnought and Cloudform in legacy. I like shenanigans.
