Misdirection on Drain Life

Asked by riddlechest 8 years ago

If I use Misdirection on a Drain Life, would I be able to misdirect the damage then and misdirect the life which comes with it?

As the text suggests, I fear, it is only for one effect of the target, but you never know ;-)

You can change the target but the life will still go to the controller of the spell. "You" as is said in the text will always be who controls the spell. You can direct it back at that person and effectively counter the spell, since they'd take as much damage as the life they would gain.

So I could still target one of his creatures, and he would drain empty his own staff?

Yes, you could switch the target to one of the controller's creatures but they would still gain as much life the creature's toughness.

Not sure what you mean by "he would drain empty his own staff."

Pause on that one.

ok, thank you. I just meant that I could make that old black vampire kill his own staff, instead of a Drain Life for 24 damage, directed at me and 24 life for him.

So thanks again :)
