Mind Rot and Abyssal Nocturnus

So I don't get this "whenever" stuff when multiple things happen at the same time. Like would Abyssal Nocturnus get +4/+4 because Mind Rot causes 2 cards to be discarded or just +2/+2 since both the cards are being discarded at the same time. On another different, but related topic, would Windreader Sphinx allow you to draw two cards if you attacked with two creatures with flying, or just one card since they are attacking at the same time.

If an opponent discards two cards it triggers Abyssal Nocturnus twice, and assuming both resolve properly he will get a net of +4/+4. If he read "Discards one or more cards" he would only trigger once. The same is true for Windreader Sphinx and attacking with multiple creatures with flying.

To dissect these differences take a look at Splendid Agony, Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Nest of Scarabs, and Flourishing Defenses.

If Splendid Agony targets a single creature it would result in Hapatra triggering once to create a single token, Nest of Scarabs triggering once to create two tokens, and Flourishing Defenses triggering twice to create one token each trigger for a total of two.

Alternatively, if Splendid Agony has two targets, each of them trigger twice (because the say "a creature" instead of "creatures"), creating a single token per trigger for a total two from each creature/enchantment triggering.
