Metallic Mimic and Nebelgast Herald / Spirits

Hi there, looking to understand all of Metallic Mimic's interactions with Spirits. If I understand correctly, it would synergize well with Nebelgast Herald because the Mimic enters as a spirit. However, it would not work with Rattlechains's last ability because Mimic isn't cast as a spirit spell, so you couldn't cast it with flash. Right?

You would be correct. Metallic Mimic has only the Shapeshifter type if it's anywhere but the battlefield. As it enters the battlefield it'll gain the creature type of your choice, so it'll trigger any abilities that trigger from a creature of that type entering the battlefield.
