Lotleth Troll and regeneration

If I declare Lotleth Troll an attacker and tap him, and my opponent targets the troll with Murderous Cut before combat, if I pay the 1 black mana to regen the troll, will the attack still go through?

No, regeneration taps the creature (not relevant here) and removes it from combat. Thus, the troll will not deal deal damage, but hey, he will live another turn.
