Killing a player with Beguiler of wills in multiplayer

Asked by runelord 5 years ago

In a multiplayer game if I kill a player who is using Beguiler of Wills do the stolen creatures go back to their owners?

Yes. Beguiler of Wills' ability is a control-changing effect, which ends when the player controlling that control-changing effect leaves the game. So creatures stolen with Beguiler of Wills will go back to their owners.

Other things that happen, in order:

  • All objects the player owns leave the game

  • That player's control-changing effects end

  • Any spells or abilities that player still controls on the stack cease to exist

  • Anything still controlled by that player at this point is exiled (such as if It That Betrays put a nontoken creature someone else sacrificed onto the battlefield under the leaving player's control), as there's no "previous owner" for that instance of the thing.
