Is Bury the same as exile?

Asked by TheGamer 10 years ago

When I play EDH, I have some cards that say bury at end of turn or things like that. So, does it go to graveyard or exile?

It goes to the graveyard and cannot be regenerated.

Buried means it goes to the graveyard and cannot be regenerated. Exiled is removed from the game, and unable to come back unless something specifically brings an exiled card back.

"Bury" is an old method of saying "put the card in its owner's graveyard" in some manner. It can be "discard," "destroy and it can't be regenerated," or "sacrifice" depending on each individual card. All instances of it have been given errata to one of those things, and you can find the updated wording by looking up the card on the Gatherer. It definitely does not exile.
