Is Animar, Soul of Elements modern legal.

Asked by nickiru 9 years ago

I have searched and searched searched and and searched. And for some reason I cannot find whether this card (Animar, Soul of Elements ) is modern legal. He is of the commander set and a lot of commander cards are legal so.... I am fairly sure it is.

Please provide a site or document/text that states whether he is legal or not.

Tapped out says that he is legal for vintage, legacy, and commander. I don't think he is legal for modern since he was only printed in commander, although I may be wrong.

You can bring up his page by clicking on him twice, and in the bottom right it says, in case you want verification

Yah, that was the first place I looked. The reason I doubt is that they didn't have 'modern ..... not legal or legal'

I really want to use him in a modern deck so I must be sure.

I also want to know why it isn't modern legal, because it wasn't in the ban list.

TappedOut is NEVER an authority on banlist information.

Commander 2013 products, and all other non-block, non-core set releases, are NOT legal for play in Modern. Secondary products can add cards to eternal formats like Legacy, Vintage, and EDH, but they do not add cards to noneternal formats like Standard and Modern.

It's not on the ban list because it was never legal in Modern. The ban list is for specifying cards that are illegal despite being printed in a Modern-legal form.

Always check the WOTC website for complete format information.
