If I equipped Sword of Light and Shadow to a creature...

If I equipped Sword of Light and Shadow to a creature how does prtection from white and black work? Does it mean it can't be blocked or dealt damage by a white or black creature, or is it simply protection from spell?

Protection can be summed up with the acronym DEBT

Protection from X means:

Cannot be Damaged by X

Cannot be Enchanted by X

Cannot be Blocked by X

Cannot be Targetted by X

If an object has the characteristic X, protection stops it. Creature has quality X? Protected from creature. Enchantment has quality X? Protected from it. Spell? Effect? Protection from it. Player has X? Protected from it.

One more note: the E stands for both "Enchanted" and "Equipped"

E also stands for "Fortified" and "cannot be damaged" just simply prevents damage. With Leyline of Punishment out even Progenitus can be dealt damage.
