How does seek work in Arena?

Asked by legendofa 1 year ago

Seek randomly picks a card from your deck. Does it pick based on the name or by the frequency of the card?

As an example, I use Kindred Denial to counter a spell with MV 4. I have two Saiba Syphoners, two Kindred Denials, and four Gale, Conduit of the Arcane in my deck (and no other MV 4 cards). Which set of probabilities is correct?

25% Syphoner, 25% Denial, 50% Gale

33.3% Syphoner, 33.3% Denial, 33.3% Gale

Similarly (or maybe not), do the same rules apply to the random conjure from Undercity Plunder or Clone Crafter?

The way it should be implemented is it takes all viable cards, picks one at random, then puts that into your hand without shuffling. That's the ways the probabilities seem to play when I play Conjure Treasure Hunt.

However, there are no actual rules for it, and as it's WotC's Arena shuffler, who knows for sure. All I can say is what I've experienced across a limited number of trials.

Undercity Plunder and Clone Crafter look at all viable cards (either all cards or all creatures), pick one at random, and make a clone of it in your hand. Neither player gets to see the library and the order thereof.

Just realized that could be construed either way; it seems to be 25 / 25 / 50
