How does Guile interact with counterspells?

Asked by Balzac 8 years ago

So, I have Guile on the field and my opponent drops an Elvish Mystic that I promptly counter with Dismiss.

I understand that I get to play the Elvish Mystic because of Guile's ability, he would be countered. But since he wasn't actually countered, do I still get to draw a card because of Dismiss second effect?

Yes. The card draw isn't predicated on you successfully countering the spell. You could cast Dismiss on an uncounterable spell and just get the draw if you wanted it.
