Hexproof and abilities?

Asked by pupriley 6 years ago

Just a general question. Does hexproof work against card abilities?

Like Breya, Etherium Shaper's ability to tap two lands and sack two artifacts in order to place a -4/-4 counter on a creature?

I really need to find a way around this effect XD

Yes. The moment you add hexproof to a creature the ability to place -4/-4 on a creature or any target card will fizzle. The only thing hexproof doesnt cover is if you get board wiped of some kind. Also, hexproof literally states that your creature cannot be targeted by an opponent.

Also not the Breya's ability does not use counters it simply gives -4/-4 until end of turn. This means that things that interact with counters will not interact with the -4/-4.
