Heartless Summoning and creature with casting cost X

Asked by Antoniobizarro 8 years ago

How does it work? For example, if i cast Endless One paying 3 mana, do i get a 3/3 creature or a 5/5 (2/2 or 4/4 after Heartless summoning gives -1/-1)

You declare a value for X. Then the amount you pay is reduced by .
For your example:
If you declare X to be 5, you will pay three mana and get a 5/5 that becomes a 4/4 because of Heartless Summoning. If you declare X to be three, you pay one mana and get a 3/3 that becomes a 2/2.

You pay mana for the amount you declared for . This equation below will help you understand:

Mana Cost + Additional Costs - Cost Reductions = Mana to Pay

So, using this, we can say that, in your example, you declare =.

+ No Addition Costs - (From Heartless Summoning = mana to pay.

You will be having a 3/3 Endless One entering the battlefied as a 2/2. (-1/-1 from Heartless Summoning).

Cool. So it's the same thing with Eye of Ugin in the battlefield?

Correct, Eye of Ugin also has a cost reduction effect.

Note that cost reductions stack, so having both Eye of Ugin and Heartless Summoning in okay will make the Endless One cost less to cast.
