Hardened Scales with Avatar of the Resolute

Asked by Pheonix11235 8 years ago

If Avatar of the Resolute comes into play and you have only one creature with a +1/+1 counter on it as well as Hardened Scales, would the Avatar only come in with one +1/+1 counter on it since you aren't putting the counter on the Avatar, but rather it comes in with it?

Avatar of the Resolute would come in with an additional +1/+1 counter. It's the same principle as Doubling Season, whereas both the season and Hardened Scales would see the counters being placed on the Avatar of the Resolute.

Also, check the Gatherer's for Hardened Scales to see a full ruling about this:

9/20/14:

"placed on creature you control" includes that creature entering the battlefield with +1/+1 counters on it. If a creature would enter with a number of +1/+1 counters while you control Hardened Scales, it enters with that many counters plus one.
