Godsend and Trample

Asked by AzureOctive 9 years ago

if the equipped creature has trample and is equipped with Godsend, its defending creature is not even in the game by the time assigning combat damage rolls around... what happa? Does it assign 0 damage to the non-existant creature to satisfy the 'enough damage to kill it' part or does it just go to town on the defending player? but... there's not even a creature blocking it anymore...

Godsend exiles before the damage step, so you would treat it as though the damage was not done to the creature, therefore the trample carries over to the player

702.19c If an attacking creature with trample is blocked, but there are no creatures blocking it when damage is assigned, all its damage is assigned to the player or planeswalker its attacking.

You don't even consider the blocking creature for damage assignment because there is no blocking creature anymore.
