Exile tokens at end of combat?

Asked by MindAblaze 6 years ago

Let's say I have a Blade of Selves equipped to a Hoarding Dragon with some kind of sac outlet on the board. Let's call it a Bloodthrone Vampire.

I enter my Combat step, declare my intent to attack and swing with my Hoarding Dragon. The blade triggers and resolves, I get two more dragons. Dragons ETB ability triggers I go wandering for two artifacts.

Let's say there's no blockers to speak of, so my stuff lives until the "end of combat step." In response to the blades exile trigger for the tokens I sacrifice them to my Bloodthrone Vampire. Now...here lies to question;

Do my tokens still go to exile if they've been sacrificed, ala unearth (if they would leave the battlefield, exile them instead) or do they "die?"

They die. Myriad doesn't say "If it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else" like Whip of Erebos does. It simply exiles them to make you have an sac outlet if you would like to exploit "dies" triggers.

I can live with that, and I guess the card doesn't do anything more than it says. I wasn't sure how to look for it in the Comp Rules, but yeah. RTFC I guess.

Yeah, people make cards more complicated than they need to be all the time. Happy i could help though.
