Ertai's Meddling and "Can't be Countered Spells"

Asked by Savitar1 9 years ago

Hello, just wondering if Ertai's Meddling has the ability to make an Emrakul or any of the other "Can't be Countered" spells take a while longer to hit. l've looked in a bunch of places, and havn't been able to get a real straight answer as to if it affects them or not.Thank you to all who take the time to respond.

The full Oracle text of Ertai's Meddling is as follows:

X can't be 0.
Target spell's controller exiles it with X delay counters on it.
At the beginning of each of that player's upkeeps, if that card is exiled, remove a delay counter from it. If the card has no delay counters on it, he or she puts it onto the stack as a copy of the original spell.

Nothing in this text states that Ertai's Meddling counters anything. Therefore, it doesn't matter whether the target spell says "can't be countered." The target will still be exiled with X delay counters on it.
