Need to prove this to my friend

Empty the Pits's two X cost means that we have to pay a minimal two(2) colorless mana to produce a Zombie token, right?

Note that when you cast spells with in their mana costs, you declare the value of X first. Cost calculations are then based on the declared value. It's not the other way around; you don't determine the value of X based on the payment.

Cost = [mana cost OR alternate cost] + [additional or increased costs] - [cost reductions]

In this case,

Same way you link cards. Take the symbols (a number, W, U, B, R, G, X, or T for tap) and double bracket each of them.
